Are We Really about Church Planting? Several quotes caught my attention in Larry Sharp’s article “Are We Really about Church Planting?” (July 2005). Twice he mentions the “end-in-view” church planting model/strategy; once he notes: “If church planting becomes the work of national believers, missionaries don’t have to pass a baton; the baton is in national hands from the beginning.”
Awake Africa I read “Awake Africa” nodding in recognition of well-intentioned but inappropriate generosity.

Ziya Meral’s article, “Toward a Relevant Theology for the Middle East,” in the April EMQ was such a breath of fresh air!
An Open Letter to Phil Parshall. In the July 2004 issue of EMQ (293) Phil Parshall wrote, “I do not want to end my life…known as a heresy hunter. Yes, I will continue…to voice my concerns. But if I am to err toward imbalance, I want to be on the side of love, affirmation and lifting up my colleagues as better than myself.”
Distinguishing Christian Testimonies In his letter (April 2004), Phil Parshall shares how a non-Christian gentleman in Bangladesh gave a strong, positive testimony of what his god had done for him.
Sweet Talk in Africa
Thanks, Jay, for your sweet article in EMQ (April 2004). You explain and illustrate your three points beautifully and also affirm Africans and their wisdom stored in proverbs.
Highest kudos to EMQ for featuring a less popular “mission field,” i.e. Latin America (LA) (July 2003 issue).
Conforming to a Culture. The October 2002 issue of EMQ included the article, “A Testimony for Missions,” by Richard Smith. The article included these statements, “…fall in love with the local culture…identify with its institutions and traditions…” “He is here because he is deeply attached to our nation and what comes with it…He has tried hard to be one of us…”
