All theology is based on autobiography. All theology has its unique color and context, and so does my missiology. My missional focus for this article is transnational adoption in the larger context of the ministry of compassion.

A 2015 published Pew study on America’s changing religious landscape spanning from 2007 to 2013 indicates that the Christian population in the U.S. is shrinking from 78.4% to 70.6%, a 7.8% decline. This is in contrast with the world religions category, which saw an increase from 4.7% to 5.9%, a growth of 1.2%.

It is a fundamental principle of church-planting movements that workers for the harvest are in the harvest (Garrison 2004, 172; Cole 2005, 149). We have the privilege of living in a time when more and more missionaries are emerging from the harvest itself.

It is recognized that the member care movement in Latin America started around the 1999-2000s (O’Donnell 2011). In this article, I would like to introduce the idea that, symbolically, we could say that as a movement, Latin member care workers are in an adolescent stage. We have a lot of passion, but we are not well integrated or mature, and we do not have a clear identity.

While women continue to sacrifice immensely for God’s mission, they are victims of sexism and marginalization.

The polls are in and the news is bad for the Church in America. Christianity is on the decline, Americans have given up on God, and the “Nones”—those who have no religious ties—are on the rise. It is indeed true that parts of the Christian Church in America are struggling, while a growing number of Americans are far from God.

In this article, I want to give a brief introduction to post-postmodern missiology by answering two questions: Why do we need a post-postmodern missiology? and What is it? 

African-American Christians have a significant role in the global spread of the gospel for many reasons. One unique contribution was clearly illustrated as I was leading a few seminary students on a trip to a Southeast Asian country where I had previously lived. While we were there, I witnessed one of my students accomplish something in six minutes that I didn’t accomplish in six years.  

Many pastors and missionaries are crossing the globe, teaching, encouraging, and resourcing with good intentions, but questionable effectiveness. Other church-planting catalysts, especially those who work within a denominational framework, manage systems like assessment, church-planter boot camp, financial support, coaching, and others. They try to maintain some church-planting momentum, but rarely achieve movement.

In this article, I will focus specifically on seven issues that are important to address in the transition to tertiary education in the United States. I focus on the U.S. because the students in the research used for this article studied in the U.S.¹ Workers from other home countries may be able to apply these findings to their experience.
