Report on the triennial conference.
The triennial conference of Evangelical Foreign Missions Association, Interdenominational Foreign Mission Association, and the Association of Evangelical Professors of Missions has come and gone. For the EFMA and IFMA it was the ninth such meeting and, therefore, but one in a series of successful cooperative meetings for two inter-mission organizations that have a history of viability and fruitfulness. But the case of the Association of Evangelical Professors of Missions is quite different. That organization has had its ups and downs since its inauguration in the middle 1960’s-more downs than ups really. For the AEPM, therefore, the meeting at the U.S. Center for World Mission was a milestone. Read about it in the article by the newly elected president of the AEPM, Norman Allison.
Stephen Hoke of Seattle Pacific College canvassed numerous schools to see what missiologists are teaching in that introductory course for which everyone seems to have such high expectations. Then he evolved an "Introduction to Missions" course at Seattle Pacific that has been extremely well received. Don’t miss his article.
At its recent meeting the AEPM organized an editorial committee to continue this supplement to Evangelical Missions Quarterly and to inaugurate other publishing endeavors. We ask you to do the following. First, please encourage as many as possible of your faculty colleagues and students to subscribe to the EMQ. (When they do, be sure to mark "AEPM" on their I subscription form or letter.) Second, let us know about the type of materials you would like to see in this supplement, contributions you would be prepared to make, and happenings and meetings of note. (See the announcement of the forthcoming Northeast Regional AEPM meeting in this’ issue.)
